The 1998 Mustang is an important vehicle to Ford for the coupe market segment. The GT is a member of a series of three trim levels for the Mustang which include SVT Cobra, GT, and Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ford. There is strong competition from vehicles from Acura.

Engine Performance

The restyled Mustang GT is equipped with a Ford 4.6-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The engine is paired with a Borg Warner 5-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Mustang GT Statistics

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 71.80 inches wide by 181.50 inches long. It sits a comfortable 53.40 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 101.30 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $20,650 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $18,824. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1998 Mustang is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 15.70 gallons.

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 19 - 20 in-city driving and 28 - 29 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Ford Mustang GT sold well in 1998. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ford, specifically a Mustang.

Several things can be said about the Ford Mustang series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The eight-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.

Ford Mustang Engine Specs

Standard equipment in the Mustang for 2001 and 2002 includes the 4.6 liter engine by Ford, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 5-speed Standard Transmission puts the power of the engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Convertible arena.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2002 Mustang is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The 15.70-gallon tank provides the fuel storage for longer trips.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 73.10 inches wide by 183.20 inches long. It sits 53.10 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 101.30 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

The listed retail price in 2002 (MSRP) was $18,080, with a dealer invoice cost of $16,687. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

MPG Ratings

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 19 - 20 in-city driving and 27 - 29 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

In 2001 and 2002 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of Black, Laser Red Tinted, Mineral Gray Metallic, Oxford White, Satin Silver Metallic, Sonic Blue, Torch Red, Tropic Green Metallic, True Blue Metallic, and Zinc Yellow. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

What We Think of the Ford Mustang

The 2001 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 2002 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang GT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

The 1993 Mustang is an important vehicle to Ford for the convertible market segment. The GT is a member of a series of four trim levels for the Mustang which include SVT Cobra R, GT, and LX. With two doors and spacious seating for four, the rear-wheel drive Mustang makes a statement. There is plenty of competition in the Convertible market, including strong offerings from Kia.

Ford Mustang Engine Specs

The Mustang GT is equipped with a Ford 5.0 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The HO engine is mated to a Borg Warner 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1993 Mustang is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The 15.40-gallon tank provides the fuel storage for longer trips.

Vehicle Statistics

The Mustang is 179.60 inches long, 68.30 inches wide, and 52.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 100.50 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

There is a 50,000* mile, 60* month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 50,000*/36* miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The listed retail price in 1993 (MSRP) was $11,370, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

MPG Ratings

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty two in-city driving and 29 - 30 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

In 1992 and 1993 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

We Think...

The 1993 model year was telling year for the Ford Mustang. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the GT version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.

The Mustang GT is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Borg Warner 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1999 Mustang is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 15.70 gallons.

Mustang GT Statistics

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 73.10 inches wide by 183.50 inches long. It sits a comfortable 53.20 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 101.30 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $27,470 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $24,893. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty four when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

In 1998 and 1999 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of Black Clearcoat, Crystal White Clearcoat, Electric Green Clearcoat Metallic, and Rio Red Tinted Clearcoat.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Ford Mustang GT sold well in 1999. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ford, specifically a Mustang.

A lot has been said about the Ford Mustang for 1995. As Ford's entry in the convertible market the Mustang (and in this case specically the GT version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 2-door Mustang is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Ford as a brand in general.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang has power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The listed retail price in 1995 (MSRP) was $21,300, with an invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is above average of the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1995 Mustang is an important vehicle to Ford for the coupe market segment. The GT is a member of a series of five trim levels for the Mustang which include SVT Cobra R, GT, GTS, and Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ford. There is strong competition from vehicles from Nissan.

Engine Performance

Standard equipment in the Mustang for 1991 and 1992 includes the 5.0 liter engine by Ford, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 5-speed Standard Transmission puts the power of the HO engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Convertible arena.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 68.30 inches wide by 179.60 inches long. It sits 52.10 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 100.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

The listed retail price in 1992 (MSRP) was $16,899, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1992 Mustang is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.40 gallons.

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 21 - 22 in-city driving and 28 - 30 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

We Think...

The 1991 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 1992 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang GT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

It is common to find buyers of the Ford Mustang enthusiastic about their purchase. The Mustang has been one of the premier vehicles of the Ford line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 1992 model is no exception. The Ford Mustang falls into the convertible for the family category. The Mustang inspires brand loyalty, and it's not unusual to have a buyer purchase Fords year after year

Ford Mustang Engine Specs

The restyled Mustang GT is equipped with a 5.0-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The HO engine is mated to a Borg Warner five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1991 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1992 Mustang is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.40 gallons.

There is a 50,000* mile, 60* month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 50,000*/36* miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $16,899 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

MPG Ratings

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 21 - 22 in-city driving and 28 - 30 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

In 1991 and 1992 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

We Think...

The 1991 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 1992 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang GT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

Several things can be said about the Ford Mustang series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The eight-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.

1991 Ford Mustang GT Specs

The restyled Mustang GT is equipped with a 5.0-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The HO engine is mated to a Borg Warner five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1990 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1991 Mustang is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.40 gallons.

Statistics

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 68.30 inches wide by 179.60 inches long. It sits 52.10 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 100.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

The listed retail price in 1991 (MSRP) was $10,215, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

MPG Ratings

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty two in-city driving and thirty when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

In 1990 and 1991 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

What We Think of the Ford Mustang

There are several reasons why the Ford Mustang GT sold well in 1991. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ford, specifically a Mustang.

There have been several award-winning cars from Ford over the years, including the Ford Mustang of 1996. There are three trim levels to the Mustang, including SVT Cobra, GT, and Base. The GT version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1995 the popular 4.6 liter has made this a popular choice for convertible buyers nationwide.

1996 Ford Mustang GT Specs

The Mustang GT is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Borg Warner 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The fuel system for the 1996 Mustang is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The Mustang is 181.50 inches long, 71.80 inches wide, and 53.40 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 101.30 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 1996 (MSRP) was $17,610, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is in line with the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the convertible market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1996 Mustang gets 24 - 27 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 - 18 in the city. This is below average for a convertible car.

Parting Shots

The 1995 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 1996 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang GT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
