A lot has been said about the Ford Mustang for 2000. As Ford's entry in the coupe market the Mustang (and in this case specically the SVT Cobra R version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 2-door Mustang is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Ford as a brand in general.
In 2000 Ford released the Mustang Base to the car-buying market. The Mustang came in three configurations: SVT Cobra R, Base, and GT. The Base configuration is powered by the 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 27 - 29 highway miles and 20 city. The Mustang competes in the Convertible market segment, in direct competition with Lexus.
The 2000 Mustang is an important vehicle to Ford for the convertible market segment. The GT is a member of a series of three trim levels for the Mustang which include SVT Cobra R, Base, and GT. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ford. There is strong competition from vehicles from Acura.
