Several things can be said about the Ford Mustang series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The four-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.

1991 Ford Mustang LX Specs

The restyled Mustang LX is equipped with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 8 valves. The engine is mated to a Borg Warner five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1990 version.

The fuel system for the 1991 Mustang is a EFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The Mustang is 179.60 inches long, 68.30 inches wide, and 52.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 100.50 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $10,215 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the convertible market.

Fuel Efficiency

The Mustang LX received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty two in-city driving and thirty when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

What We Think of the Ford Mustang

The 1990 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 1991 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang LX will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

Several things can be said about the Ford Mustang series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The eight-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.

1991 Ford Mustang GT Specs

The restyled Mustang GT is equipped with a 5.0-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The HO engine is mated to a Borg Warner five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1990 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 1991 Mustang is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.40 gallons.

Statistics

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 68.30 inches wide by 179.60 inches long. It sits 52.10 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 100.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

The listed retail price in 1991 (MSRP) was $10,215, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

MPG Ratings

The Mustang GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty two in-city driving and thirty when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

In 1990 and 1991 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

What We Think of the Ford Mustang

There are several reasons why the Ford Mustang GT sold well in 1991. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ford, specifically a Mustang.

The 1991 Mustang is an important vehicle to Ford for the convertible market segment. The GT is a member of a series of two trim levels for the Mustang which include GT and LX. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ford. There is strong competition from vehicles from Nissan.

Performance

The restyled Mustang GT is equipped with a Ford 5.0-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The HO engine is paired with a Borg Warner 5-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 1991 Mustang is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 15.40 gallons.

Mustang GT Statistics

The Mustang is 179.60 inches long, 68.30 inches wide, and 52.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 100.50 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $10,215 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1991 Mustang gets 30 miles/gallon on the highway and only 22 in the city. This is average for a convertible car.

In 1990 and 1991 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

Conclusion
