Our Take on the 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT

Ford Mustang

A lot has been said about the Ford Mustang for 2007. As Ford's entry in the coupe market the Mustang (and in this case specically the Shelby GT version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 2-door Mustang is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Ford as a brand in general.

Performance

The Mustang Shelby GT is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Ford 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The fuel system for the 2007 Mustang is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 16.00 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Mustang Shelby GT Statistics

The Mustang is 187.60 inches long, 74.00 inches wide, and 54.50 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 107.10 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $30,520 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $28,058. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

Fuel Efficiency

The Mustang Shelby GT received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and 23 - 25 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

Conclusion

The 2006 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 2007 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang Shelby GT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
