There have been several award-winning cars from Ford over the years, including the Ford Mustang of 2005. There are two trim levels to the Mustang, including Base and GT. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2004 the popular 4.0 liter Cologne has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers nationwide.

2005 Ford Mustang Base Specs

The Mustang Base is equipped with a Ford 4.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Cologne engine is mated to a Ford 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The fuel system for the 2005 Mustang is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $19,165 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $17,689. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2005 Mustang gets 25 - 28 miles/gallon on the highway and only 19 in the city. This is below average for a coupe car.
