Our Take on the 1996 Ford Mustang GT

There have been several award-winning cars from Ford over the years, including the Ford Mustang of 1996. There are three trim levels to the Mustang, including SVT Cobra, GT, and Base. The GT version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1995 the popular 4.6 liter has made this a popular choice for convertible buyers nationwide.

1996 Ford Mustang GT Specs

The Mustang GT is equipped with a Ford 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Borg Warner 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Ford.

The fuel system for the 1996 Mustang is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.
