The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 for 2007

Ford Mustang

Several things can be said about the Ford Mustang series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The eight-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.

Under the Hood

The restyled Mustang Shelby GT500 is equipped with a 5.4-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Tremec six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2006 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The Mustang is 187.60 inches long, 74.00 inches wide, and 54.50 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 107.10 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $30,520 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $28,058. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2007 Mustang is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The 2007 Mustang gets 23 - 25 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is subpar for a convertible car.

What We Think of the Ford Mustang

The 2007 model year was very successful for the Ford Mustang. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Shelby GT500 version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
